I have just read a very interesting article on the guardian website about how baking can possibly help with mental illnesses like depression.
Its a really interesting read and as a baker I certainly see some truth in it. I find baking to be very relaxing and always look forward to the reward of eating the goodies afterwards. Baking certainly gives you a focus, and when in the ‘baking zone’ you dont have time to think about anything else as your focus has to be on the ingredients and cooking.
As mentioned in the article Miss Cakehead is hoping to raise awareness to the power of baking through pop up bakery shops – http://misscakehead.wordpress.com/2013/05/24/the-depressed-cake-shop/
If you live in London then the pop shop is happening 2nd -4th August, but there will also be pop up shops around the country and world! Such a great idea and I will certainly try and pop along to show my support hope you do to!
